Northern Essex Community College is quite interesting, because this college offers students two unique paths to essentially get to the same goal: a certificate in medical assisting.

The first is to take day classes at NECC. Or, you can take online and evening classes via the iHealth option.

First, let’s talk about the day classes at NECC. If you go that route, it should take you approximately nine months to finish the program. The program itself will cost students just over $8,000 to attend.

If you instead would rather take evening classes, iHealth (which is also located at 45 Franklin Street in Lawrence, Massachusetts), it may take you a little bit longer to complete the program, provided you are going part-time in the evening.

More than that, iHealth allows you to complete a lot of the course load through your home computer (provided you have an Internet connection), as the online courses are meant to give you flexibility and a stronger feeling of comfort. The entire course cannot be done online however, as you will be asked to make the commute to Lawrence one or two evenings per week.

Porter and Chester gives students the ability to get their education done either during the day or night. If you opt to take evening classes, however, do note that it will take you a few more months to complete the program, and cost you more money in the end.

P&CI offers students a certificate program. If you attend during the day, the program will take nine months to complete. If you pursue evening classes, you can expect the course to last 15 months.

  • Porter and Chester Institute
    80 Turnpike Road
    Westborough, MA 01581

In addition, it’s worth also talking about how much school will cost you in the end. For day classes, you can expect to pay just over $16,000 for tuition. For evening classes, that tuition cost rises to just over $17,000.

  • Porter and Chester Institute – Canton
    5 Campanelli Circle
